Solid Roots
From its modest beginnings selling carpet to Chicago’s north shore residents back in 1954, our family-owned startup has come a long way. Over the years the business has been passed down through three generations. We’ve seen a lot of progress, but we’re happy to report that you can still find a Lewis at Lewis.
Expanding by Popular Demand
Simply the best selection, knowledgeable staff and exceptional service brought us steady growth due to happy repeat customers. Their loyalty helped make us what we are today.
When our customers asked us to expand our product lines to include hard surface flooring in 1996, we did. Anyone browsing through our showroom today will see an unsurpassed selection of ceramic, porcelain, stone, and hardwood flooring, along with fashion-forward materials such as leather, metal, glass and mosaic tile and the largest selection of green products.
In 2005 we again responded to countless customer requests, this time by opening a new showroom on Fullerton Avenue in Chicago’s Lincoln Park. We’re delighted to see some of our north shore customers who have moved into the city, and we’ve been getting visits from many of our first customers’ children and grandchildren, city-dwellers who are happy to have a trusted source nearby for help with their decorating needs. This location has been very well received and continues to thrive as word spreads to old and new friends alike.
Our most recent additions - cabinetry, countertops, window treatments and green products - round out our product mix and further simplify the lives of our residential and professional customers. We are now truly a one-stop shop for remodeling and new construction.
More Variety. Less Money.
Our success has resulted in larger and larger orders from suppliers around the world. Our volume has enabled us to buy direct from manufacturers in Italy, Spain, Turkey, Brazil, Mexico and China. By buying direct, we’re able to offer more products and pass savings on to our customers.
Going Green
Our ongoing evolution includes providing more energy efficient and green materials as part of our standing offerings. In support of the effort to keep landfills lean, we’ve developed one of the most extensive selections of all-natural and recycled/recyclable products available most of which are LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified and meet the specifications and requirements determined by LEED. We’re thrilled to meet more and more consumers and builders taking an interest in the environment. Once again we want to be at the forefront of style while providing our customers with environmentally friendly products for their homes.
Giving Back
We couldn’t be more thankful for the opportunities available to us, and we strive to express our gratitude in as many ways as possible. We’ve reached out to our community by participating in fundraising events at various local schools and religious charitable organizations and contributing to local causes such as the Cancer Wellness Center in Northbrook. We look forward to many years of meaningful and mutually beneficial relationships going forward.
